Unity Debacle: What we will do moving forward

It has been a while since I made another post about my game. I really feel as though something must be said over what we are doing in terms of programming and designing. We unfortunately hit a snag when it comes to design but we are currently working on the boss battle. Hopefully we get something done by the end of this month. I was hoping for some good news but I have unfortunately have heard what Unity plans to do in terms of monetization and rev sharing:

I felt incredibly betrayed by this company, since I mainly used this program because it is so accessible to indie developers like me and many other people who use this platform. Sadly, this company has been lead by a person that EA fired for being too greedy, and this guy wants to siphon as much money as possible for each install of a game that me and many other indie devs make. It's gotten so bad that major indie devs are pulling their products off of steam and other storefronts just so they won't get affected by such a dastardly policy.

It's very clear that trust in Unity as a company is no longer warranted and I may need to find some alternatives to this engine. However, I don't know what to do at this point. I don't want to throw away work that my partners have done and forsake them because of what Unity has done. There are several avenues for me:

  1. Stay the course, hoping Unity will reverse its policy
  2. Release the game for free
  3. Change Engines to Unreal Engine or Godot

If other avenues are available, I would love to hear it. Sorry for giving you the sour news. It's just something I need to get off my chest before bad things happen.
